Looking for an alternative way of working with wood, I minimized the scale of woodwork. Insects use wood in a different way and a different speed. I experimented with caterpillars, trying different kinds of wood and attempting to get them to chew faster or slower. After about 8 weeks, softwood was the result. The caterpillars chewed fiber by fiber, leading to a suede like structure on the head side of the wood.
